MAJOR REPAIR OF VOLIA AVENUE IN THE CITY OF LUTSK FROM SHOPENA STREET TO KYIVSKY MAIDAN
Will Avenue is one of the central and main streets of Lutsk, the Korso of the city. The MOST workshop undertook an interesting and responsible task: to develop a project of overhaul of part of the street by order of local authorities. Volia Avenue as a street before the redevelopment began in the Soviet period. But now the street is actively walking, public transport goes, a large number of public institutions and residential buildings are located along. Therefore, the project involved the search for effective solutions to ensure these features and safety needs and comfort. The making of prose decisions was conditioned by the opportunity to realize them in the framework of adjusting the working project for major repairs, but at the same time the desire to maximize and adapt the street in accordance with new socio-economic conditions and requests.
The width of the street in red lines is 35 m. Public development (school, technical school, blood transfusion center, car school, shopping center, supermarket, etc.) and residential buildings with commercial premises on the first floors are formed along the street. Prior to redevelopment, the main problems in this area of the street were: poor paving state, swings of paving, lack of accessibility. The inefficient distribution of the roadway into 2 wide strips of 5.5 m provoked drivers to park from the edge to the right, often in violation of traffic rules, overlapping visibility within pedestrian crossings. There was no bicycle infrastructure along the odd and partially paired. On the sidewalks, where there were wide areas, cars were parking. Some of the existing lime along the avenue were in poor condition because of the insufficient size of the hole and the failed formative pruning.
Work on the project began with the development of a sketch decision, which was first discussed with the customer. In the process of discussing the sketch, 2 public presentations were held, which were invited by representatives of the local authorities, the deputy corps, the general contractor, the public, and journalists. In the course of the discussion, they formed the basis of the technical task for the development of adjustments of the working project. In the course of construction work, the teams of the team to Lutsk were constantly held to the author's supervision, discussion and meetings with the customer and the general contractor. In this aspect, I would like to emphasize the important role of the quality work of the customer - the Department of Housing and Communal Services of Lutsk City Council and the general contractor - Lutskavtodor -Service LLC. The synergy of the project, the customer and the performer is an important condition for the qualitative result and the implementation of the project.
The main solutions that were implemented during the project are changes in the street planning itself. Among them, about the roadway is the transition to a three -lane road traffic organization with left -handed lanes. This transition allows cars that turn left, do not delay the main transport flow, which moves directly. Longitudinal parking spaces are organized along the roadway. Thus, about 200 seats were created, some of them adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. Also within pedestrian crossings there are safety islands for safer crossing the road, and anti -kinging to increase visibility at pedestrian crossings. Additionally, pedestrian crossings have been reduced, tactile tiles and restrictive columns were installed. It is also provided for the use of special lamps of contrast lighting pedestrian crossings that make pedestrians more visible in the evening. Within the adjoining of the side streets, roads are arranged on cycling crossings that encourage drivers to slow down, and prevent puddles in rainy weather in rainy weather, as they are partially raised.
To create the best conditions for walking and bicycle, the project provides a solution to redevelop the bicycle infrastructure. A bicycle path was arranged, and in places where it was possible, it was separated from the sidewalk by a green strip. Also, a pavement space was distributed into the front area, a transit, a safety area, a bicycle track and a landscaping area with a technical sidewalk along the parking lane. Within small green corners at the corner of the streets or where there are small squares along this avenue, small pocket squares were created. These areas are equipped with benches and other street furniture that allow people to stop, relax or meet friends. In addition, along the entire length of the prospectus, street furniture in the form of benches and street chairs, bicycle stables near commerce and social establishments: libraries, bank, blood transfusion center, school, etc. are provided. Also, the lighting of the bicycle part with lamps of warm light was designed, which makes not only more visible avenue in the evening, but also safer and cozy due to the use of warm light lamps.
Regarding the improvement and certain public spaces, an interesting object within the framework of the avenue is Lutsk Gymnasium №4 named after Modest Levitsky. The facade of the school directly adjacent to the street. 2 years ago, in 2021, the MOST workshop developed the design and concept of the appearance of the school that was implemented. Within the framework of the project of overhaul of the will, we have arranged a small public space in front of the school. This space includes resting places where students can spend their time, as well as for parents who are waiting for their children or other passers -by. At the entrance to the school there are bicycle storage racks. Different types of paving stones were used to seal the area before the school, complementing the overall design of the formed public space.
With regard to landscaping, it should be said that within the limits of the overhaul, a full replacement of green spaces was carried out, some of which were removed because the green spaces were already in poor condition. Some of the trees were in poor condition, and as a result of construction work on the arrangement of the base, the replacement of engineering networks, the conditions of their growth would be deteriorated. Therefore, some of the trees have been replaced with new seedlings, new planting places with trees, as well as improved conditions for the growth of existing trees: increased areas of green areas around these trees. In total, about 120 specimens of trees and about 4,000 shrubs of seedlings were planted. Bushes are used as a decorative element and at the same time serve as a separate barrier function between the bicycle track and the transit pedestrian area. Also used are soil cover shrubs that protect open soil from weathering. Among the species of planted trees in most linden trees, but there are decorative types of apple trees, cherries (sakura), Pizardi plums, brioti chestnuts, as chestnuts are already growing on part of the puppy near the blood transfusion center. Among the shrubs are such species as Lamarck rust, cotones, spirea, turf, blisters, barberry and perennial cereals - miscanthus.
In general, the implementation of the project, which lasted more than 2.5 years, was a challenge for the team, but the result was successful. It was possible to form a street adapted to modern conditions and requirements within the decisions that are possible during major repairs. As a result, the Lucians received an updated city street with an effective transition to a three -lane traffic organization, highlighted and orderly parking lanes, convenient stops, safe cycling crossings, continuous cycle roads, perennial green spaces and new street furniture. We sincerely rejoice that, despite the difficulties in the country, most of the proposed decisions have been successfully implemented, and now the locals can use conveniently available infrastructure.
